Trinity students in the Community Learning Research Fellows program partner each year with local organizations on research work that goes beyond the classroom. Jane Dunbar ’23 and Sulemaan Khalid ’23 worked with Hartford Land Bank, a non-profit that stewards the rehabilitation of vacant, abandoned, tax-delinquent, or distressed properties in the city.

Trinity’s Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) recently hosted its annual Day of Digital Scholarship, designed to celebrate the use of technology in research and teaching projects created by faculty, staff, and students.

Trinity College student Darya (Dasha) Maliauskaya ’22 recently published a paper in the Inquiries Journal about authoritarian leaders and military support. Based on a midterm assignment from the political science course, “Authoritarianism,” the research explores how autocrats use power, coercion, and loyalty to influence the military into supporting the regime during mass uprisings.

When Kate Whitman ’23 enrolled in an educational studies course in her first year at Trinity, she didn't know how much of an impact working with first-graders would have on her. The Community Learning course improved her research and analytical skills, and proved to be rewarding in more personal ways, as well.

Community members gathered to honor Sam Kassow’s 50th anniversary of teaching at Trinity and his world-renowned scholarship on Russian and Jewish history.

Trinity College student Raymond Alvarez-Adorno ’23 was recently named as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a national coalition of colleges and universities committed to the public purposes of higher education. Alvarez-Adorno has a passion for helping people and for community engagement.

Trinity College Assistant Professor of American Studies Juliet Nebolon has been awarded a 2022 fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). The fellowship grant will support Nebolon during the coming academic year as she completes her first book.

This year’s “Take Back the Night” program at Trinity College featured special guest Maggie Nichols, an elite gymnast who was the first to report sexual abuse by former USA Gymnastics team doctor Lawrence (Larry) G. Nassar.

Two new proposals by Trinity College students have been selected to receive Projects for Peace grants to fund their initiatives around the world. An additional student project that was funded in 2020 but delayed by the pandemic also will be implemented this summer.

Raja Changez Sultan ’72, an internationally renowned painter and poet from Pakistan, will be the featured speaker at Trinity’s 196th Commencement on Sunday, May 22, and will receive an honorary doctor of fine arts degree. Honorary degrees also will be presented to Lloyd Alexander Lewis Jr. ’69 and Cornelia Parsons Thornburgh ’80.
