All community members of Trinity College are required and expected to obey the laws and legal agreements governing software use. Failure to do so can lead to monetary damages and/or criminal penalties for the individual violator. Because such violations are also against College policies and rules, disciplinary action will be taken as appropriate.

  • Downloading, uploading, and sharing music, movies, or other copyrighted files is illegal.
  • Copyright infringement penalties can range from $500-250,000 to five years in prison and suspension or dismissal from school.
  • The Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998 ensures that copyrighted material is protected.
