When Kate Whitman ’23 enrolled in an educational studies course in her first year at Trinity, she didn't know how much of an impact working with first-graders would have on her. The Community Learning course improved her research and analytical skills, and proved to be rewarding in more personal ways, as well.

Trinity College Assistant Professor of American Studies Juliet Nebolon has been awarded a 2022 fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). The fellowship grant will support Nebolon during the coming academic year as she completes her first book.

Two new proposals by Trinity College students have been selected to receive Projects for Peace grants to fund their initiatives around the world. An additional student project that was funded in 2020 but delayed by the pandemic also will be implemented this summer.

Raja Changez Sultan ’72, an internationally renowned painter and poet from Pakistan, will be the featured speaker at Trinity’s 196th Commencement on Sunday, May 22, and will receive an honorary doctor of fine arts degree. Honorary degrees also will be presented to Lloyd Alexander Lewis Jr. ’69 and Cornelia Parsons Thornburgh ’80.
Trinity has received a gift from Henry Mallari-D’Auria ’83 that will expand the college’s ability to recruit the best students of every background.
The Trinity College Board of Trustees voted in February and April 2022 to approve promotions of faculty members and to award emeritus status to retiring faculty members. The faculty promotions and status changes will go into effect July 1, 2022.
Skye Embray ’23 and Nicole Massa ’23 have been selected to receive Barry Goldwater Scholarships from a pool of more than 5,000 applicants from across the country. The scholarship is one of the most prestigious awards for students interested in pursuing careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
“No one tells their own story better than themselves,” said Gabriel R. Sorondo Guirola ’23, who is part of a Public Humanities Collaborative project at Trinity that archives the stories of Latinx people in Hartford. He spoke recently about his work during a National Humanities Alliance panel discussion.
