Travel Notification – Account Access Security
Note: This form is not required for all international travel. In most cases, modern authentication systems can distinguish legitimate travel activity from compromised account activity. However, certain usage patterns may raise flags, especially when access is attempted from multiple geographic regions within a short timeframe.
This form is designed to assist the college’s IT Security team in adjusting the risk score assigned to potentially anomalous login activity originating from international locations appropriately. If you’re a user who anticipates accessing college systems from a foreign country during your travel period, and your login behavior may appear suspicious under standard security rules, submitting this form may prevent unnecessary account access disruptions.
When Should You Submit This Form?
You should consider submitting this travel notification if either of the following situations applies:
-
You plan to use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to access a workstation located on campus from your destination country.
-
You expect to log in to college systems from multiple devices or networks, such as using your U.S. mobile phone and a computer connected to a local (foreign) network, in rapid succession.
What This Form Does
Submitting this form enables the college’s security system to consider your travel plans when evaluating authentication data. It temporarily lowers the likelihood that regular login activity during your trip will be flagged as suspicious or result in your account being locked or restricted.
What This Form Does Not Do
-
It does not guarantee unrestricted access to all systems while abroad.
-
It does not replace any required VPN or secure login processes.
-
It does not exempt your account from security monitoring.
