What You’re Looking At

Pages are usually used for static content such as:

  • Home
  • About
  • Contact
  • Portfolio

Posts are usually used for time-based or blog content such as:

  • Weekly updates
  • News articles
  • Blog entries
  • Announcements

Posts can also be organized and displayed using categories and tags, making them useful for content you plan to update regularly.

How It Works

To create either a Page or a Post:

Select Pages or Posts from the left sidebar

Click Add New

Use the block editor to add content such as:

  • text
  • headings
  • images
  • buttons

Pages and Posts use a similar editing experience. The main difference is how the content is organized and displayed on your website.

The videos linked below will walk you through:

  • creating a new page or post
  • adding content using blocks
  • saving drafts

Important Note

Before clicking Publish, use the Preview button to see what your page will look like on your live website.

Previewing your work allows you to check layout, spacing, images, formatting, and more.

This is a helpful way to catch mistakes before making your page public.

If you are still working on your page, click Save Draft instead of Publish.

Your Next Step

Now that you understand the difference between Pages and Posts, spend a few minutes exploring both sections in WordPress.

Try creating a practice Page and familiarize yourself with the block editor.
