Dr. Junko Ueno

Dr. Ueno is a  Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literature and the Asian Studies Program at Union College, Schenectady New York. Dr. Ueno teaches all levels of Japanese language courses, Japanese culture courses including “Language, Identity, and Power in Japan” and “Explore Japanese Manga and Anime,” and First Year Preceptorial. Her research interests are foreign language pedagogy, sociolinguistics, educational psychology, and bilingualism. She has published in Teaching English as a Second Language Electronic Journal (TESL-EJ) and other journals. She contributed a chapter to Incorporating Foreign Language Content in Humanities Courses (Ananth & Lyons, 2019, Routledge). Dr. Ueno received her Ph.D. in Language Education and M.A. in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
