Students Develop Leadership Skills through Environmental Engagement

Students across campus are developing civic leadership skills through environmental projects this spring. From ConnPIRG’s office in the basement of Mather Hall to the Multicultural Affairs Council’s plot at the Trinfo garden to composting on Crescent Street, student work toward a more sustainable community is touching all corners of campus.

Recognizing CHER Program Anniversaries

Several CHER programs are recognizing anniversaries in 2020 and 2021. We are reflecting on twenty-five years of community learning, twenty years of Trinfo.Café, twenty years of the Learning Corridor, ten years of the community garden at Trinfo, and forty years of the Office of Community Service and Civic Engagement. Last year also marked more than two decades of the Thanksgiving and Sponsor-a-Snowman holiday drives and the Jones-Zimmerman Academic Mentoring Program.

Jack Hale is involved in numerous initiatives in Hartford and has worked with the Office of Community Service and Civic Engagement as well as Trinity professors to engage students through tree planting, Colt history projects, and hosting volunteers at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Over 20 Years of Annual Community Service Holiday Drives

For more than twenty years Trinity’s Office of Community Service and Civic Engagement has organized two annual holiday drives — the Thanksgiving Drive and Sponsor-a-Snowman drive — to partner with Hartford organizations providing food and toy donations in the city.
