Students participate on day trips and weekend excursions in and around Shanghai as part of the program. The core course “Shanghai: The Chinese Metropolis in Comparative Perspective” will also take students on excursions around Shanghai. These may include walking tours, visits to museums, local businesses, cultural hubs and more. Internships are intended to help students gain a broader and deeper understanding of Chinese culture, the economy and daily life of Shanghai. Students who choose to do the internship for credit must take the internship course “Doing Business in China.” Student internships are facilitated through Fudan. In the past, students have been placed with NGOs, local companies, think tanks, multinational organizations and more.
