Select the term that you would like to study away

STEP 1: RESEARCH PROGRAMS

Deciding on the right study away program for you requires research, which can significantly impact your semester or year for the better. Research will help you narrow down the options to one or two programs. Trinity College has a minimum requirement of a 2.5 cumulative GPA to study away for a semester, regardless if the program has a lower GPA requirement.

WHEN TO DO THIS: One year in advance.

EX: If you plan to study away in the Fall of your junior year, research programs during the Fall semester of your sophomore year.

HOW TO DO THIS:

  • BROWSE ALL SEMESTER PROGRAMS HERE
  • Begin discussing program possibilities with your Academic Adviser to make sure that your preferred programs are a good fit academically.
  • Talk with friends or fellow students who have gone on these programs.

STEP 2: STUDY AWAY ADVISING

Once you decide on a program or narrow it down to two, contact the OSA Adviser assigned to the geographic region of your program choice. You must speak with an OSA Adviser before you can submit an external program request to study away or program application. If you are undecided between programs, you may need to talk with multiple OSA Advisers to help you finalize your program choice. Only APPLY to ONE program unless advised otherwise by the OSA.

WHEN TO DO THIS: One year in advance. EX: If you plan to study away in the Fall of your junior year, meet with your OSA Adviser during the Fall semester of your sophomore year.

HOW TO DO THIS:

  • Email the appropriate OSA Adviser (see below) to schedule a virtual or phone advising appointment:

IMPORTANT PASSPORT INFORMATION FOR THE 2021-2022 ACADEMIC YEAR

If you need a passport or need to renew your passport, we STRONGLY SUGGEST that you begin that process ASAP. We recommend that you have a valid passport in hand by the time you apply for your study away program (please see application deadlines above). Passports must be valid for 6 months after your return date. For example, if you are planning to study away in the fall 2021 semester, your passport must be valid through June 2022.

US CITIZENS: Passport applications and renewals are being processed at an extremely delayed rate due to the COVID-19 pandemic, limiting passport agencies’ operations. Passport processing time is roughly 2- 3 months. Visit the US Department of State website to begin the process.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, passport renewals may be delayed in your home country. If you need to renew your passport, we strongly encourage you to review your home countries’ renewal process/timelines and plan accordingly.
