December 12, 2019

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

With the announcement from the selection committee about the 50 for the Next 50, I wanted to add my thanks to all who participated in the nomination process and to the members of the selection committee for their dedication to this special initiative.

I write also to ask you to save the date of February 7, 2020, for an evening of celebration of the 50 for the Next 50 at the Society Room of Hartford. The reception will be open to all members of the campus community, though space is limited, so please keep an eye out for an invitation and an opportunity to R.S.V.P. in early January.

Finally, I want to note that every member of the selection committee was deserving of this high honor—and several of them were, in fact, nominated. Selection committee members, however, chose not to consider their own nominations (though they felt strongly about making one exception for a student committee member who was nominated).

We will honor the 50 for the Next 50 in numerous ways throughout the spring semester, including with a feature story in The Trinity Reporter. What a wonderful way to celebrate coeducation at Trinity and look ahead to those who will help shape the college’s future!

Sincerely,

Joanne Berger-Sweeney
President and Trinity College Professor of Neuroscience
