Professor Awarded Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies

Trinity College Associate Professor of Language and Culture Studies Kifah Hanna has been awarded a Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowship for Recently Tenured Scholars from the American Council of Learned Societies. The prestigious fellowship will be hosted at Columbia University’s Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Three Trinity Students Honored with Barry Goldwater Scholarships

From an estimated pool of more than 5,000 applicants from across the country, Trinity College students Claire Grigglestone ’21, Alisa Levin ’21, and Anika Harkins ’21 have been selected to receive the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a prestigious award for students who wish to pursue careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.

As the world adjusts to changing realities and uncertainty brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, Trinity College students are stepping up with financial support and other resources to help one another. The Student Government Association has collected money from student groups that would have been spent on spring events and has launched a crowdsourced network of support for their peers.

To help ease the transition to living and studying on an American campus, a pilot program introduced in fall 2019 in Trinity’s Allan K. Smith Center for Writing and Rhetoric connects first-year international students with mentors who provide academic and social support.

Trinity Innovation Center Now Open in Downtown Hartford

Trinity College has opened the 13,000-square-foot Trinity Innovation Center in downtown Hartford as a space for boundary-crossing collaborations and creativity. Located on the third floor of One Constitution Plaza, the new center will house Trinity’s partnership with Infosys; the Digital Health CT accelerator; and new innovation and entrepreneurship programming for students.

‘Fostering Play in Cambodia’ with Davis Projects for Peace Grant

Soon after they graduated from Trinity last spring, Jessica Duong ’19 and Joshua Corbo ’19 set out to rural Cambodia to build a playground and facilitate a soccer workshop for children in the village of Bech Khlok. The project was supported by a grant from Davis Projects for Peace, a program through which college students can make an impact on the world.

Trinity Supports Digital Health Care Innovation in Hartford

Ten start-up companies recently showcased their development work that has been supported by Digital Health CT, a Hartford-based business accelerator program in which Trinity College is a partner. President Joanne Berger-Sweeney has said that the goal of the partnership is to “accelerate start-up companies focused on digital health technologies, thus deepening the relevance of our liberal arts education and spurring an entrepreneurial ecosystem in our Connecticut home.”
