President Joanne Berger-Sweeney has announced the appointment of seven new trustees to the Trinity College Board of Trustees. They begin their terms on July 1, 2023. All the new trustees are alumni, and one is the parent of a current student.
Joanne Berger-Sweeney, Trinity College president and professor of neuroscience, has been appointed chair of the Hartford HealthCare Board of Directors.
Aiden Chisholm ’23 received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program Grant to support the teaching of English in Peru. Nic Zacharewski ’23 received a Fulbright Study/Research Grant to work at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.
The Trustees of Trinity College voted this year to award tenure and promotions to several faculty members. They also granted emeritus status to 16 longtime faculty members for their lasting contributions to the College.
Trinity College celebrated the Class of 2023 during its 197th Commencement on Sunday, May 21. In all, 527 students received their degrees at the ceremony held during Trinity’s Bicentennial year. Nicole Hockley ’92, co-founder and CEO of Sandy Hook Promise, presented a passionate address to the students.
Trinity’s tree-lined campus invites people to interact with the natural environment, an activity that was formally acknowledged with the new designation of the College as an arboretum.
As one of four sisters in her family to attend Trinity, Tasha Casey ’23 pursued majors in music and psychology. At the same time, she and her sisters have continued performing with their family band, the KC Sisters.
The film Missing in Brooks County, co-directed and co-produced by Visiting Assistant Professor of Film Studies Jeff Bemiss, has won a Peabody Award in the documentary category. The Peabody Awards honor excellence in storytelling that reflects the social issues and emerging voices of the day.
A historical yearlong celebration of Trinity College’s 200th anniversary officially got underway on Friday, May 5, 2023, with the Bicentennial Kickoff on the Main Quad. It marked the start of a yearlong schedule of events and programs designed to connect the entire Trinity community with the College’s past, present, and future.
