For department chairs and program directors:
The Curriculum Committee approves changes to a department or program’s curricular requirements and offerings, including all revisions to the major or minor. Department chairs and program directors should submit a petition to the chair and Secretary of the Curricular Committee, which 1) describes concisely the nature of the proposed change, 2) offers a succinct rationale, and 3) includes a copy of any relevant revisions to the Bulletin.
Such petitions should be submitted well before the end of the academic year so they can be incorporated and communicated in the Bulletin by May 1. When proposed changes will alter curricular requirements only for students who declared the major after a certain time, this needs to be stated clearly. Note that any proposed change does not go into effect until it appears in the Bulletin, regardless of when the Curriculum Committee approved the change.
