We know that your college education is a very important investment. If your education is disrupted by an unexpected injury, illness, or other serious life event, and depending on the timing of the withdrawal, you may not be eligible to receive a refund for all of your tuition and fees. GradGuard Tuition Insurance strengthens and broadens the scope of our existing refund policy, and can help students and parents avoid a financial loss due to an unexpected withdrawal for a serious covered illness, injury, or other covered reason.

WHAT IT COVERS

This plan offers flexibility to cover up to 100% reimbursement of  nonrefundable school expenses paid (less financial aid) if you completely withdraw from the College for covered reasons, such as:

  • Covered injury or illness such as mononucleosis, or severe head injury
  • Chronic Illness such as diabetes or an auto-immune disorder
  • Covered psychological or mental health conditions, like depression, anxiety, suicide/attempted suicide
  • Covered death of a tuition payer
  • Covered loss of employment of a tuition payer

Covered withdrawals can take place anytime during the covered term.  GradGuard offers members special access to an Assistance Hotline to help students and their families take care of emergencies and unexpected issues.

COST

The cost of coverage depends on the amount you want to insure. You can get an online quote anytime from GradGuard or by calling 866-985-7598.

GradGuard will also assist you with a coverage calculator to help you determine a recommended coverage amount. You can choose your coverage limit, and reimbursement can include:

  • Tuition payments
  • Room and board
  • Other academic fees and expenses

Tuition insurance plans include Student Life Assistance, a 24-hour emergency hotline that helps students stay safe on and off campus–providing you and your family with even more peace of mind.

PURCHASE DEADLINE

Tuition insurance must be purchased before the first date of Classes each term and is offered as a voluntary benefit to our families.  Your participation is not required, but highly recommended.

The school is not compensated for this program.

The date of withdrawal is the date the Registrar receives written notification from the student.  Freshmen and transfer students withdrawing prior to the start of classes should notify the Admissions Office.  Refunds will be made on a timely basis and will be prorated among sources of outside payment.

If you receive financial aid, your refund may be calculated according to the federal refund/repayment guidelines.  A sample of this calculation process is available in the Financial Aid Office.

Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply, including for pre-existing conditions.  Plans only available to U.S. residents and may not be available in all jurisdictions.  Recommended and provided by Grad Guard, a service of Next Generation Insurance Group, LLC (NGI), the licensed agent for all insurance programs.  AGA Service Company, dba Allianz Global Assistance (AGA), compensates GradGuard, their national program management partner, for the marketing, distribution and administration of the products. Insurance plans include insurance benefits and assistance services.  Pricing may vary by state.  Insurance benefits are underwritten by Jefferson Insurance Company (NY, Administrative Office 9950 Mayland Drive, Richmond, VA 23233) rated “A+” (Superior) by A.M. Best Co., A+ (Superior) is the 2nd highest standard of A.M.
