As Trinity celebrates its bicentennial, we’re busy creating the future.

We’re implementing Summit, our far-reaching strategic plan, while fulfilling our vision of being the preeminent liberal arts college in an urban setting. We’re responding creatively to national trends in higher education and shaping the workforce of the future.  We’re experimenting boldly, guided by the core values of a liberal arts education.  At every step of the way, we’re forging forward-looking partnerships, in Hartford and globally, intent on creating unique opportunities for our students, faculty, staff, and dedicated alumni.

President Berger-Sweeney created the Office of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation (OSII) in November 2018 to propel these activities forward. The mission of OSII is to spearhead implementation of Trinity’s strategic plan; launch major cross-cutting initiatives at the college, especially those featuring new external partnerships; and broadly promote institutional innovation and the liberal arts in higher education. The office is under the direction of the chief academic officer, Dean of the Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs Sonia Cardenas, who works closely with all divisions of the college and oversees the OSII team.
