Return from Leave of Absence or Voluntary Withdrawal

To return to the College from a leave of absence or voluntary withdrawal, students must notify the Registrar’s Office by submitting a completed Notification of Intention to Return to Trinity College form no later than March 1 for return in the fall term, and October 1 for return in the spring term. As noted on the form, students must also consult with the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs. Please e-mail the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs: [email protected] to schedule a time to meet on campus or by phone. Please include your full name and student identification number when you contact Ms. Rogers.

The Registrar’s Office will confirm with the Dean of Students Office/IDP Office that there is no academic or social restriction that would prevent return to the College. IDP students must meet with the director of the IDP program.

Students who have taken credits while away from Trinity need to submit an Application for Transfer Credit (it is recommended that this be completed before registering for courses to ensure they will be accepted) and have an official transcript sent directly to the Registrar’s Office upon completion of the courses.

IDP students returning from a leave of absence or voluntary withdrawal should contact the IDP Office for information on returning to Trinity.

Return from Required Withdrawal

Students who have been placed on required withdrawal are eligible to apply for readmission. However, each application will be considered on its merits, and readmission will not be automatic. Prior to their return, students are required to meet all of the conditions of return voted by the Academic Affairs Committee/IDP Council. Students submit the petition for readmission through the Registrar’s Office to the Academic Affairs Committee, or through the Director of IDP to the IDP Council, no later than March 1 for return in the fall term, and October 1 for return in the spring term. The petition requesting to return consists of the Notification of Intention to Return and Application for Readmission, as well as all additional supporting documents outlined in those forms. In addition, as noted on the form, students must also consult with the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs. Please e-mail the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs: [email protected] to schedule a time to meet on campus or by phone. Please include your full name and student identification number when you contact Ms. Rogers.

Students who are readmitted following required withdrawal will be on probation during the semester of their return and will be subject to all standard conditions of probation. They may also be required to participate in the Return and ReFrame Program, one of the College Transitions programs offered by the Office of Career and Life Design for students returning to Trinity.

Return from Suspension

Students who have been placed on suspension are eligible to apply for readmission for the term after their period of suspension expires. To return from Suspension, students must submit a completed Notification of Intention to Return to the Registrar’s Office no later than March 1 for return in the fall term and October 1 for return in the spring term. The Registrar’s Office will confirm with the Dean of Students Office that any conditions of the suspension have been met. Rogers.

Return to Trinity after Transferring to Another College/University

Students who withdrew from Trinity to transfer to another institution may apply to return to Trinity. Students wishing to return must submit a completed Notification of Intention to Return to the Registrar’s Office. In addition, they need to submit a Dean of Students Report form verifying they are in good social standing at the other school, and an official transcript for the courses taken at that school. Students must apply to return no later than March 1 for the fall term and October 1 for the spring term. In addition, as noted on the form, students must also consult with the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs. Please e-mail the Director of Retention Strategy and Transition Programs: [email protected] to schedule a time to meet on campus or by phone.
