Great for shopping and dining!

Transportation

It’s possible to get to West Hartford (Blue Back Square) by bus, but frankly not so easy. It involves taking a bus downtown first, and then transferring for the westbound 60-66. That’s why the college has a free shuttle that takes you over there on the weekends.

Otherwise, you can Uber. The ride might cost $10-12 each way, so split the cost with friends if you’re trying to save money.

Shopping & Entertainment

Try some xiaolongbao soup dumplings at Song Restaurant, or some lamb kofta and hummus at Zohara mediterranean. West Hartford restaurants aren’t the cheapest in town, but they’re not usually the priciest, either. Expect a $$ bill on the Yelp scale. If you’re splitting with friends, you can definitely treat yourself to a night out every now and then without your pocketbook groaning too loudly.

This area is very walkable and safe, even at night. Of course, traveling anywhere with friends is safer than traveling alone, but you’ll want to be with others if you’re over in West Hartford. Try some ice cream at Milkcraft or go to a movie at Cinepolis after dinner’s over. You can even have a full-service meal in the theater there, but you can bet it will cost more than if you come already full.
