The Summit Facilities Committee works in an advisory capacity to the administration on matters related to long-term facilities planning for academic and student life spaces, planning to improve and expand our green spaces, maintaining and developing general sustainable operating practices, and establishing a collaborative process for community participation in the prioritization of facilities projects and deferred maintenance.

To assist the college in developing a request for proposals (RFP) for the provision of facilities maintenance and housekeeping services, the facilities committee recently asked for the community’s participation in a survey about such services. We received a tremendous amount of valuable feedback—from more than 400 of you! Among the main themes we heard were a clear call for better communication across the board; a desire for a more user-friendly work order process that allows community members to track job progress; concern about issues of both comfort and wastefulness in heating and cooling; and a call for more attention to sustainable practices. We have posted a full summary of survey responses HERE. Many thanks to all who participated. Your responses will inform the development of the RFP and, in turn, help the college meet the community’s needs.
