Library and Austin Arts Center Closed July 31

On Friday, July 31, water service to the Raether Library and Information Technology Center and the Austin Arts Center will be temporarily shut off to support the new steam pipe installation taking place in the Gates Quad area. Because the buildings will not have running water, both buildings will be closed for the day. Water service is expected to resume by the end of the day.

Volunteer Opportunity: Clean Up with SINA

SINA is partnering with neighborhood leaders to host two upcoming community clean-up events, and we’d love to have you join us! These volunteer opportunities are a great way to meet neighbors, help beautify our community, and make a visible difference in our neighborhoods. Whether you can join us for one event or both, your help is greatly appreciated. Info is below. Corner Clean-Up Date: Friday, July 31 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Location: Corner of Capitol Avenue & Lawrence Street Volunteers will help clean the corner by pulling weeds, picking up litter, and freshening up the space. Lunch will be provided. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and may get paint on them. Volunteers will be pulling weeds, picking up trash, and helping improve the appearance of Maple Avenue. Lunch will be provided. Please wear clothes that can get dirty. Partial Parking Lot Closures: Seabury Hall and McCook/Hallden Hall Lots

Please note that portions of the Seabury Hall parking lot and the McCook Academic Building/Hallden Hall lot will be taken offline starting Monday, July 6th. These areas will remain offline into August to support classroom renovation work.

Construction Outside Austin Arts, Raether LITC, and Clement Chemistry

The underground steam pipe replacement project is taking place on the west side of Austin Arts and Raether LITC, as well as the east side of Clement Chemistry. The project will continue through October 2026. Access to Austin Arts, Raether LITC, and Clement Chemistry will remain open throughout the duration of the project.

UPDATE: Summer Utility Work on Vernon Street

Drivers needing to access Vernon Street should do so via Broad Street. Traffic is being routed from Broad Street through the parking lot next to the AASA House at the east end of Vernon Street. Construction deliveries will have an alternate access point, which will be closed at the end of each day. Flaggers will be stationed daily at Vernon Street/Broad Street and Vernon Street/Summit Street to assist with traffic and pedestrian movement during work hours.
