Audition for The Chapel Singers

We are Trinity College's oldest student organization and musical ensemble, founded in 1825.

Fall 2026: There are openings for all voice parts and class years, but first-years are especially encouraged to audition. Some experience reading music is recommended, but you don’t need to be an expert.

Friday 9/4 from 1:00–2:00 p.m.
Sunday 9/6 from 5:00–6:00 p.m.
Tuesday 9/8 from 12:15–1:15 p.m.
Tuesday 9/8 from 7:00–8:00 p.m.

Auditioning is simple: show up to the Chapel South Cloister (outside, facing the quad) during any of the above times­. No appointment is needed and there’s nothing to prepare in advance. Just be warmed up and ready to sing.

About us: We’re around two dozen Trinity students who love to sing challenging choral music. Our members hold a variety of religious and spiritual beliefs, and come from a diverse range of backgrounds and academic majors. Our repertoire ranges from ancient chants to music composed today.

Commitment: Our weekly rehearsals are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30–6:00 p.m. at the Chapel. We sing at a variety of Chapel services throughout the academic year, including most Sundays during the semester from 3:00–5:00 p.m. We also sing at major college occasions, the popular Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols, and perform concerts and make recordings.

Employment and Wellness Credit: Membership in the group is a significant responsibility, and we are paid student-employees of the Chapel. This job is eligible for student work-study. Participation can also fulfill a Wellness Credit.

About the Audition: We encourage you to arrive warmed-up and ready to sing. Our director will lead you through singing some scales, then ask you to sightread a few bars of music—it’s everyone’s least favorite part, just try your best. Lastly, a few current singers will teach you a short piece.
