“I get to work with students who—like my first-year self—enjoy the freedom and diversity of creative writing,” Kate Whitman ’23 says of her role as a teaching assistant. “This opportunity allows me to pay back the guidance and help that was given to me by a TA when I was in the course.”

In the fall semester, each department or program is invited to nominate a senior who demonstrates outstanding achievement within their major, along with evidence of wide-ranging intellectual interests.

Thirty-four students in the Class of 2025 are recognized for the highest academic achievement in their first year at Trinity.

Edited by Trinity College professors, the new digital anthology Hidden Literacies explores texts by marginalized Americans—including Indigenous and enslaved people, prisoners, and young children—that have not traditionally been included in archives and educational curricula.

A gift from the family foundation of Trinity College alumnus Gregory Mario ’87, CEO of TAXIS Pharmaceuticals Inc., will create a new endowed professorship, the Henry A. DePhillips Jr. Chemistry Professorship, honoring Mario’s former professor and adviser.

A sun-dappled campus welcomed visitors to Trinity throughout Family Weekend, held October 21-23. Much of the planned activity revolved around spending time outdoors, listening to a cappella singers, dancing across the lawn, or attending any of four fall sports matches.

Acclaimed artist Janis Brenner  will appear at Trinity College Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m., in a show that explores the myriad of ways a daughter “becomes” her late parents. 

During his residency at Trinity College, artist Anton Ovchinnikov visited classes, gave two public performances, and led the community in a ‘Creativity Jam.’

Associate Professor of Computer Science Ewa Syta will work with Trinity students and a University of Connecticut collaborator on a four-year research project focused on strengthening internet communications safeguards.

Thomas B. Edsall recently received Trinity’s Moses Berkman Memorial Journalism Award and delivered a lecture at the college.
