Pay careful attention to the deadline dates and requirements detailed below. If you miss a deadline or your file is incomplete, you will not be allowed to participate in the HPAC Interview process. The HPAC will not write a Letter of Evaluation for any individual who has not completeed the HPAC Interview process.

January 30, 2023 (Monday – In person and via Zoom for alums)

Attend the MANDATORY meeting for students considering applying for Fall 2024 entrance to a health professions program.

  • Mandatory meeting for all Juniors And Seniors and Alums who intend to apply to MD DO OD programs.
  • The meeting will take place in person in Clement 105 at 7pm

The Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) will present information on the materials you need to submit for your HPAC file to qualify for a Letter of Evaluation.

February 24, 2023 (Friday)

DEADLINE for letting Kathy Mallinson know (via email [email protected]) that you intend to apply to MD DO OD Programs this Cycle.

February, March and April 2023

Attend health professional school informational meetings. See (Coming soon).  Prepare personal statement, autobiographical profile, seek letters of reference (see details below)

March 3, 2023 (Friday)

Deadline to submit an official request for a Letter of Evaluation to Professor Charles Swart via e-mail at [email protected] (cc’ed to Kathy Mallinson)

The HPAC WILL NOT prepare a Committee Letter for individuals who have not adhered to this timeline.

March 31, 2023 (Friday)

Guidelines for Letters of Recommendation Faculty Writers

Two letters MUST be from Trinity SCIENCE faculty.
One letter MUST be from a NON-SCIENCE faculty.

IMPORTANT: It is your responsibility to check the status and content of your file by contacting Kathy Mallinson and to remind writers of your deadline. Writers must send recommendations directly to Kathy Mallinson as a pdf file. Letters must be on official Trinity College letterhead and must have an original signature by the letter writer. Letters not on letterhead or signed will be returned to the letter writer.

April 10, 2023 (Monday)

Sign and deliver two copies of the HPAC Letter of Evaluation form to Kathy Mallinson (CCB 107, Science Commons).

On both copies of the form, indicate whether you wish the Committee Letter to be Confidential or Non-Confidential by signing your name and writing the date in the appropriate box.

TYPE your “Name, Class Year and Professional School or Program” in the correct lines on the form.

April/May 2023

Interview with Prof. Swart and assigned HPAC member (You will receive an email from K. Mallinson about this in April. This will complete your HPAC Application Folder). These are two separate interviews. Please contact each individual professor to schedule an interview date and time.

AACOMAS and AMCAS usually open to receive new applications in early May – you will have the month of May and early June to complete your application.  This will take some time.

May 12, 2023 (Friday)

Final date to be interviewed by a HPAC Member.

Summer 2023

Submit completed primary health professions applications to health professions schools.

Submit a copy of your primary application and letter of evaluation request form (AMCAS and AACOMAS application) to Kathy Mallinson ([email protected]) and ‘cc’ to Dr. Charles Swart ([email protected]).

Submit all secondary applications, fall grades, and summer updates to individual schools.

Prepare for interviews.
