Program Learning Goals for the Economics B.A. and B.S. Majors:

PLG 1. Theory: Students can construct and operate formal models of economic behavior, with appropriate attention to the historical, institutional, and social contexts that shape economic decision-making.

PLG 2. Data analysis: Students can comprehend and conduct statistical or econometric analysis of data, and, when appropriate, qualitative research methods such as case studies, interviews, or comparative analysis, while also being able to contextualize their findings within a broader framework.

PLG 3. Application: Students have an opportunity to apply economic models, empirical analysis, or qualitative techniques to government policy dilemmas, the operation of organizations, private sector decisions, or societal issues, with an emphasis on understanding the broader social, ethical, and institutional implications of their analysis.

PLG 4. Communication: Students have an opportunity to demonstrate their analysis and its conclusions, whether in verbal or written format, either to academics, to practitioners in the field, or to nonexperts, while also being able to contextualize their findings within a broader framework.
