Cybersecurity Education & Awareness
The Information Security Team works year-round to provide cybersecurity education, awareness activities, and practical resources that help students, faculty, and staff recognize threats and make informed decisions when using technology.
Whether you are learning to identify phishing attempts, secure your devices, manage passwords, or protect sensitive information, our goal is to provide the knowledge and tools you need to stay safe online.
Our Cybersecurity Awareness Program
Trinity’s cybersecurity awareness program combines education, communication, hands-on training, and real-world exercises to build a stronger security culture across campus.
Program elements include:

- Annual cybersecurity awareness training
- Simulated phishing exercises
- Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities
- Data Privacy Week programming
- Security advisories and awareness campaigns
- Guidance for international travel and high risk destinations
- Best practices for protecting accounts and devices
- Resources for reporting cybersecurity concerns
These efforts help members of the Trinity community better understand today’s cyber threats and how to respond safely and effectively.
Cybersecurity Awareness Training
Trinity provides cybersecurity awareness training through KnowBe4, a leading security awareness and training platform used by thousands of organizations worldwide.
The platform offers brief, interactive learning modules that help participants:
- Recognize phishing attempts and social engineering tactics
- Protect passwords and accounts
- Safeguard personal and institutional information
- Understand common cyber threats
- Practice secure online behavior
Training content is regularly updated to address emerging threats and evolving cybersecurity risks.
Phishing Simulations and Email Security
One of the most common cybersecurity threats facing colleges and universities is phishing.
To help prepare our community for real-world threats, Trinity periodically conducts simulated phishing campaigns through KnowBe4. These exercises provide a safe environment to practice identifying suspicious emails and reinforce security best practices.
If you receive a suspicious email, we encourage you to report it using the Phish Alert Button. Reporting suspicious messages helps us investigate potential threats and improve our awareness efforts.
Why Awareness Matters
Cybersecurity incidents often begin with a simple action, such as clicking a malicious link, opening a malicious attachment, or responding to a fraudulent request.
Awareness and education are among the most effective ways to reduce risk and protect both individuals and the institution. By staying informed and practicing good cybersecurity habits, members of the Trinity community help create a safer digital environment for everyone.
Get Involved
Throughout the year, Trinity offers cybersecurity awareness programming, educational resources, events, and communications designed to help community members stay informed about emerging threats and best practices.
We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to:
