Muslim Life Events

Jumu’ah Prayer
At Trinity College, Jumu’ah prayer takes place every Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Muslim Prayer Room, located at 76H Crescent Street, Hartford, CT 06106. Following the prayer, we come together for a shared lunch at 1:25 p.m. to foster community and connection. For those who are unable to attend the prayer, we warmly invite you to join us for lunch and contribute to the spirit of fellowship. All students are welcome to participate and be a part of this vibrant community.
Soul and Story
Stories, questions, and conversations beyond the classroom.
What are the experiences that shape the way we see the world?
Soul and Story is a weekly gathering where Trinity College students and faculty come together to share stories, explore questions, and learn from one another beyond the classroom. Each week, a faculty member shares a personal story or a meaningful experience that has shaped their life, work, or understanding of the world. The conversation then opens to students, creating an informal space for questions, reflections, and the exchange of different perspectives.
Through these conversations, students have an opportunity to get to know faculty members beyond their academic roles, discover the experiences behind different perspectives, and build meaningful connections across the Trinity community.
The program meets every Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the Muslim Prayer Room at 76H Crescent Street. Pizza is served at the end of each gathering.
All students and faculty are welcome. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your own perspective. Come for the conversation, and stay for the community.
Weekly Suhbah Circle

The Pearls from the Qur’an Circle meets every Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Trinity College’s Muslim Prayer Room (76H), offering a space for learning, reflection, and companionship. Inspired by the spirit of suhbah—true companionship—this gathering focuses on exploring one or two verses from the Qur’an each week to uncover timeless wisdom. Participants are encouraged to share reflections, questions, joys, and challenges, and to support one another in their spiritual journeys.
Each session concludes with a short video and an optional discussion until 7:30 PM. Tea and treats are served during a brief 15-minute break, creating an opportunity for further connection and conversation. The Weekly Suhbah aims to foster a sense of belonging, community, and personal growth.
Discover Islam Week

Discover Islam Week is the MSA’s signature event of the year. In 2019, the program included a panel titled “Conversations with your Muslim Neighbor” in collaboration with the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut and the Connecticut Council for Interreligious Understanding, a showing of I Am Ali at Cinestudio theater, and Jumu’ah on the Quad. In 2018, Discover Islam Week included a performance of Dirty Paki Lingerie, a single woman play by Aizzah Fatima about the intersection of tradition and modernity for Muslim women; a lecture by a New Haven-based, Syrian-born artist Mohamad Hafez about his art exploring refugees’ experiences; and discussions about the representations of Islam in the media. The events were well-attended and the group collaborated with other student organizations, campus offices, and academic departments.

Muslim Coalition of Connecticut Annual Leadership Banquet
Each year, the Muslim Student Association attends the Annual Leadership Banquet put on by the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut in October. Last year, the theme was “Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities: Breaking the Silence on Mental Health.” In 2017, the theme was “Muslims in The Media – Reclaiming the Narrative.” For more information about MCCT and their work in the state, visit their website.
Throughout the year, the MSA also organizes a variety of events in collaboration with other student organizations, academic departments, and organizations in the surrounding area.
