Trinity College recently hosted the first Summit Innovation Challenge to promote entrepreneurship on campus through a “Shark Tank”-like competition that featured students pitching their inventions. Trisha Mohan ’26 won first place with her invention, the CandleCover, and Jade Mellitz ’26 won second place with Sandy Soles.

This year’s “Color Our Collections” coloring book is giving the Trinity community a way to explore the library’s archival treasures through interactive art. #ColorOurCollections is a national movement to connect people with library collections through coloring.  

Trinity College students, staff, and faculty members recently attended the Connecticut Forum’s discussion with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Trinity is an education partner of the Connecticut Forum.

Trinity College continued its celebration of the 50th anniversary of the federal civil rights law known as Title IX by welcoming Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman to campus on December 1.

Thomas B. Edsall recently received Trinity’s Moses Berkman Memorial Journalism Award and delivered a lecture at the college.

The Hartford Medical Society’s historical collection of books, journals, and artifacts dating back to the 1500s has returned to the Watkinson Library at Trinity College, having previously been housed there from 1893 to 1898. The collection includes more than 30,000 volumes, 100 archival collections, and 550 medical instruments.

Trinity’s Center for Caribbean Studies helped to organize the raising of the flags of Central American countries at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford. This was part of the college’s larger efforts to raise awareness of Central American culture, history, and immigrant experiences.

“Welcome to the new academic year and, for many of you, to the formal beginning to your life as a member of the Trinity College family,” Trinity President Joanne Berger-Sweeney said to the crowd gathered on the Main Quad on September 1. “Students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends, we are all part of the Bantam family.”

“Success belongs to us because when it mattered most, we did it as a community,” class speaker Matthew Rivera ’20 said to fellow members of the Trinity College Class of 2020 during their long-awaited Commencement, held two years after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted their senior year.

More than 520 members of the Trinity College Class of 2022 received their degrees on May 22. “May your journey be long and purposeful, and may each of you leave an indelible mark on the sands of time,” Raja Changez Sultan ’72 said in his Commencement address.
