The course selection period for incoming students will take place between Wednesday June 16 and Friday June 30. For more information about the course selection form, please visit the “Selecting Your Courses” page in the navigation menu above.

Questions about course selection can be directed to the Center for Academic Advising. You may schedule an advising discussion with a trained faculty adviser via email at advising@trincoll.edu or phone at (860) 297-5151. We encourage you to participate in one of the interactive Zoom course selection information sessions. These live sessions will offer advice that will help you with the important task of choosing your first semester courses. More information about these sessions, including dates and times, is posted in the timeline below. 2021 Course Selection Timeline:

May

  • Complete the required online Math Placement Exam, Guided Writing Assessment, Second Language Questionnaire and STEM Questionnaire as part of your online New Student Portal tasks. If you will be continuing a second language that you previously studied, complete the Second Language Placement Exam for that language. All are due by May 31.
  • You MUST complete you the Math Placement Exam, Guided Writing Assessment, and Second Language Questionnaire in order to be enrolled in fall courses. Priority enrollment will be given to students who complete these tasks by the deadline.
  • Read through the information found on the links in this page’s menu.
  • Feel free to reach out to the Center for Academic Advising with questions about course selection, and prepare to participate in one or more of the interactive Zoom advising sessions hosted in June.

June

  • Advising Period – View the updated fall and J-Term course offerings in the course schedule and participate in one or more of the Center for Academic Advising interactive Zoom course selection information sessions. Dates and times are below–REGISTER HERE:
    • Wednesday, June 16 at 7:00p.m. – STEM advising session
    • Thursday, June 17 at 7:00 p.m. – general advising session
    • Monday, June 21 at 8:00 a.m. – general advising session
    • Thursday, June 24 at 7:00 p.m. – general advising session
    • Tuesday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. – general advising session
  • June 16-30 – Enter your preferred and alternate course selections online through the course selection form located in your New Student Portal. Don’t rush! Course selection forms are not considered by the order in which they are received. Changes may not be made once your form has been submitted, so give considerable thought to your selections prior to submitting your form. Course selection forms submitted after the deadline will be considered last, and course availability will be limited.
  • The Registrar’s Office will create your course schedules and enroll you in courses. Please continue working through your remaining portal tasks during this time.

July and August

  • Continue completing tasks in your New Student Portal throughout the month of July.
  • Course schedules will be available for review in early August. Keep in mind that no changes can be made to your schedule until you meet with your academic adviser. All incoming students have an advance registration hold on your account preventing any changes to your schedule. Please do not call to make changes.

September

  • You will have an advising meeting with your academic adviser to review your schedule during Orientation. Once you have met, the registration hold on your account will be released.
  • You will have the opportunity to make changes to your schedule throughout the add/drop period, which opens once you have met with your adviser during Orientation. Please do not call with schedule changes between August 1 and September 2.
