MATCHING FUNDS AND “TOPPING UP” FOR FACULTY SALARY

In some instances, a faculty member will receive an external grant that supports taking a Leave of Absence (LOA). If the grant falls short of covering a tenure-line faculty member’s regular salary during the LOA, the College will generally top up the research grant by either a) matching the amount of the grant OR b) supplementing the amount of the grant up to the faculty member’s full salary for the appropriate period, whichever is less.
