In the English Department at Trinity College, faculty and students collaborate closely together as they explore a wide range of literary forms, genres, and media from an equally wide range of periods and cultures.
Here you will find the requirements for our major, our course offerings, and information about our students, past and present. We hope that this information gives you a view into the kind of community of students, scholars, artists, and teachers we are, as it outlines for you the range of programs, activities, and events that enhance and augment our work in the classroom, and provides a sense of the range of career paths taken by English alumni.
The Trinity English department offers a wide range of opportunities for students to showcase their writing, win recognition for their literary talent, and collaborate with faculty on special research projects.
We have an active alumni network: we keep in touch with our graduates and invite them back to Trinity on a regular basis to share with current students how they've navigated the transition from college to rewarding professional careers.
For senior English major and Office of Communications writing intern Katie Cort ’19, a recent visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art was just one of the ways in which Trinity has encouraged learning outside of the classroom.
