Trinity College has established an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which is qualified through the training, experience, and expertise of its members to oversee the institution’s animal program, facilities, and procedures. The IACUC reviews animal use protocols (both new and ongoing) based on the guidelines set down in Public Health Service (PHS) policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and in the Animal Welfare Act. The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 8th edition is available on the NIH website.  Protocols are evaluated initially and reviewed yearly for compliance.  The Committee meets twice a year, once in April and once in October.

The Animal Use Protocol Form can be found here.

For questions please contact Luis Martinez, Chair of the IACUC.
