to accept the invitation as outlined above.
  4. Once completed, your roommate group should appear under Roommate Groups with green checks next to their name.
  5. Note: Only one of you creates a roommate group. The other accepts the invite.
If you both create a roommate group, the accounts will not be linked and the
    request will not be granted.

Prior to entering the Room Selection Process, you will be able to preview rooms under
the Housing Overview page.

  1.  You may search for specific rooms. Vacant rooms are indicated by an icon of a bed, and rooms that are unavailable to you are indicated by the icon of a bed with a red circle and line over it.
    • This also tells you how many people are needed in a group in order to be qualified for this space.
  2. You can search by building and floors for your rooms through the search on the left side of the page.
  3. If you find a room that you like, you can click the star icon beside the room to add it to your Favorites.
    • It is highly recommended to have at least 10 options in your favorites. Rooms go quickly! Have backup plans in place. This will make the process a lot less stressful when the time comes.
    • On the left side of the page, you can also click Only show my favorites so that your page becomes less cluttered and easier to select when the process begins.
  1. Once you are eligible to enter the Housing Selection Process, you will see a ‘Browse
Rooms‘ button at the top of the Housing Overview page. Click this to begin.
  2. This is where you can set to Only show my favorites, or search buildings and rooms to find the space you want.
  3. Click the bed icon to select your room. You will not be able to select any unavailable
rooms. So if a room you selected into your favorites earlier is no longer there, it means it is no longer vacant.
  4. A dialog window will appear with details of the selected room. Click the ‘choose this
    bed‘ button.
  5. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on ‘Assign me now‘ to confirm your
assignment. If you are living alone, you have completed selecting your housing assignment.

    • If you have a roommate group, you can also pull them in and “place your roommates nearby” for them to be in your space.
    • You then have the option to move roommates into different beds by selecting ‘reassign beds‘. Once you complete assigning beds, you have completed selecting your housing assignment.

Frequently Asked Questions

The following students are not eligible to participate in the housing selection process:

  • Students aged 25 or older [are not eligible for any on-campus housing]
  • Students who have a financial hold
  • Students who have not received childhood vaccinations
  • Students who are approved for a housing accommodation through the SARC office (with the exception of those approved for an AC Unit)

Time slots are assigned randomly through our housing software program. Please note that you are unable to change your designated time slot.

The size or makeup of your roommate group, or even the absence of one, does not affect the time slot assigned to you during the housing selection process. Additionally, changing your roommate group will not influence your scheduled time slot.

Each group must appoint a group leader. This leader will then extend invitations to other students to join the group, and those students must accept the request to become part of the group.

Important Note: The total number of individuals in a roommate group must match the number of beds available in the suite. If your group has one fewer or one more person, you will not be able to select that suite.

When the housing selection process begins, the group leader will log into the housing portal to choose a suite and randomly assign roommates to their respective beds. This individual will be the sole person selecting for your group, while everyone else will be added automatically.

No, once your room assignment is confirmed, changes cannot be made through our housing portal.

The individual who has the earliest timeslot will serve as the group leader and will be responsible for choosing the housing assignment.

You can only reserve a suite if all the bed spaces within it are occupied.

If a roommate request is declined, your group will forfeit the reservation for the suite, and everyone will need to restart the housing selection process.

No, once a roommate request is submitted, the student’s name becomes unavailable for selection unless the request is denied.

The makeup of your roommate group determines the suites you can browse and select from when looking for rooms. This includes factors such as the number of individuals in your group, their gender, and their class year. For instance, a group of four people would not have access to availabilities in the Jarvis suites.

On the day your class chooses housing, you will still have the opportunity to access the system and select a housing assignment.

You can get information about the neighborhoods and individual residential halls, including the floor plans, here.

The housing agreement clearly states that the housing team holds the right to fill any vacant spaces at any time during the academic year. If you are residing in a double room, please refrain from occupying the entire area, moving the existing furniture, or using the other bed. The housing office will notify you if someone is set to move in, but it’s essential that the space remains clean and ready for new occupants at all times.

For those in a suite or townhouse, please do not use the vacant room for storage or any other purposes. The room will undergo inspection and cleaning once the student moves out, and any belongings left behind will be removed.

If you know someone interested in moving into the space, kindly fill out the mid-year roommate request form here.
