Two recent gifts to Trinity College will make a substantial impact on students for generations to come.
Trinity College has received a $10 million gift from former Trinity trustee and former Connecticut State Treasurer Francisco L. Borges ’74, H’20, his wife Luisa, and his four siblings to support financial aid for outstanding students who would not otherwise be able attend college.
"We all benefitted as students benefited. . . . If we can, we should pay it forward," said Henry Mallari-D'Auria '83.
What began as a small public performance featuring local musicians and students, has grown into an annual event that draws musicians from around the world to this liberal arts college in the Northeast. But first, came the formation of the Samba Ensemble.
The daylong event brought the community together to discuss the liberal arts experience, and to celebrate an alumnus who represents the "ideal of empowering humanity through the sciences.”
