However, even at a young age, Ibrahim (AS) refused to follow the crowd blindly. He asked profound questions: Why do we worship things that disappear? and Is this really the truth?
The Quran recounts his journey of reflection, where he observed the stars, the moon, and the sun. When they set and vanished, he realized that these were not worthy of worship. Instead, Ibrahim (AS) sought a higher truth, leading him to recognize the eternal Creator, Allah (SWT). His journey of reasoning and reflection is a reminder to all of us—especially young people—not to accept things at face value. We should engage our minds, ask meaningful questions, and seek the truth.
The world is full of signs from Allah, and Prophet Ibrahim (AS) teaches us to observe these signs carefully. The universe, nature, and everything around us contain lessons that point to the Creator’s power and wisdom. As students, approaching our studies with curiosity and an open heart allows us to see the beauty of Allah’s creation through subjects like science and mathematics. Every discovery and every natural phenomenon reflects the brilliance of the Creator. Ibrahim’s (AS) life encourages us to question, explore, and learn with the purpose of understanding Allah’s magnificence.
The Power of Prayer:
Another vital lesson from the life of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is the significance of prayer (dua) in deepening our connection with Allah (SWT). Throughout his life, Ibrahim (AS) turned to Allah for guidance, strength, and blessings, and one of the most touching examples is his persistent supplication for a child. Despite his old age, when it seemed biologically impossible for him and his wife to have children, he never gave up hope. His dua was sincere and filled with trust in Allah’s wisdom.
After years of prayer, Allah (SWT) granted Ibrahim (AS) two sons—Ismail (AS) and Ishaq (AS). This story teaches us the importance of patience in our prayers. Often, we seek immediate answers, but Ibrahim (AS) shows us that even when answers are delayed, our prayers are heard. Allah’s timing is perfect, and sometimes the delay is part of a greater plan that we cannot yet understand.
Prayer is more than just asking for things—it is a way to build a deeper relationship with Allah. Through dua, we express our faith, hope, and reliance on the Creator. Even when we don’t receive immediate results, we must trust that Allah (SWT) knows what is best for us. Like
Ibrahim (AS), we should continue making dua with patience, knowing that every sincere supplication is heard.
Upholding Good Character in the Face of Hardship:
One of the most remarkable aspects of Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) life is his unwavering good character, even when faced with rejection and hardship. Throughout his life, he remained patient, kind, and respectful, regardless of how others treated him. His relationship with his father is a powerful example of this. Despite his father’s harshness and anger when Ibrahim (AS) questioned the worship of idols, he never responded with disrespect. Instead, he addressed his father lovingly, using the term “my dear father” and urging him to consider the truth.
Even when his father threatened him and asked him to leave, Ibrahim (AS) maintained his composure, responding with peace and patience. This teaches us an essential lesson: no matter how others treat us, we should always strive to uphold our good character. It is natural to feel anger or frustration when we are wronged, but Ibrahim (AS) shows us that we can respond with kindness and wisdom instead.
In addition to personal rejection, Ibrahim (AS) faced hostility from his entire society, culminating in an attempt to kill him by throwing him into a fire. Yet, even in this extreme situation, he placed his complete trust in Allah (SWT), saying, “Sufficient for me is Allah, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” His faith and reliance on Allah allowed him to remain steadfast, and Allah protected him from the fire.
This lesson is especially relevant in today’s world, where we may face misunderstandings, rejections, or unfair treatment. Ibrahim (AS) reminds us that we can stand firm in our values without losing our kindness or respect for others. His story teaches us that patience, wisdom, and trust in Allah are key to navigating life’s challenges.
