Remain in Yellow Alert Level Status

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

We write with an update on our continuing response to the presence of COVID-19 on our campus. There are currently 12 active cases among our community (11 students and 1 employee/affiliate) of whom 9 are in isolation on campus. Our community has made significant progress in limiting the transmission of the virus these last few weeks. This progress is no doubt due in large part to our collective efforts to be vigilant in following health and safety protocols. We thank you all for doing your part in this critical work.

As we wait for results from today’s tests, we will remain in yellow alert level status. We are hopeful to return to green alert level status on Monday, May 3rd. We want to provide clarity about mask-wearing rules on campus, given the recent recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While the CDC guidelines now allow for somewhat relaxed mask-wearing protocols, especially for those who are fully vaccinated, Trinity will continue to require masks to be worn at all times, unless you are dining or alone in your closed individual office or residence hall bedroom.

The following measures will be in place consistent with our yellow alert level:

  • Campus activities are permitted outdoors and limited to 29 if supervised by a faculty/staff member and six if unsupervised; face masks and proper physical distancing are required at all times.
  • Supervised athletic practices and recreational activities are allowed with proper supervision.
  • Dining is grab-n-go only.
  • Student residence hall access is limited to their own floors only, and common areas are closed; as always, students who live off-campus are not permitted in residence halls, and students on campus are not permitted in off-campus housing.
  • Travel off-campus by students is for essential purposes only. Contact the Student and Community Life office ([email protected]) if you need to travel. Off-campus visits to restaurants and bars are prohibited.
  • Work-related or college-sponsored travel by employees is for essential purposes only.
  • Visitors are allowed in limited circumstances and for pre-approved reasons only (Admissions visitors are permitted, and Cinestudio and Trinfo.Café are open)

We also want to remind any student who has symptoms consistent with COVID-19 to call the Health Center (860-297-2018) and schedule an appointment.

As we write this message, we are just 21 days away from Commencement. Students in isolation with active COVID-19 on May 21 will not be able to participate in the in-person ceremonies. In order to participate, all graduating students must be symptom-free for at least the 10 days prior. This means the time is now for students to remain committed to ensuring the health of our fellow Bantams by not gathering in settings that may transmit the virus.
