November 2025 highlights included National First-Gen Students Day, talks by artists, student visits to the World Affairs Council of Connecticut, alumni panel discussions, the first squash matches at the new Kovas Squash Center, student performances, colorful fall scenes around campus, and more.

Philipp M. Gemmel, assistant professor of chemistry, recently was awarded a research grant from the American Chemical Society (ACS), Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Roundtable (GCIPR).
The Trinity College community will see some familiar locations in the new streaming series The Artist, premiering on The Network on November 27. The series was filmed last year at various sites in Connecticut, including Trinity’s distinctive campus.
Megan Crutcher, Ann Plato Postdoctoral Fellow in History, has received a grant from the Institute of Nautical Archaeology for the project, "Where Trees Meet the Tide: Documenting Traditional Watercraft Construction in Liberia, West Africa.”
As part of this year’s focused efforts to strengthen a thriving first-gen community at Trinity, the College recently hosted its first National First-Gen Students Day programming, bringing together students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Benedicte Baile ’25 and Alexander Cacciato ’26 each received a $10,000 Projects for Peace grant to implement projects to promote their visions of peace last summer. They recently shared updates with Trinity students, faculty, and staff about their global outreach endeavors.
This year’s cohort of President’s Fellows includes some of Trinity’s most accomplished seniors. These 33 student scholars from the Class of 2026 have compiled exemplary academic records in their years at the College.
Highlights from October included lectures, workshops, performances, awards ceremonies, and the inauguration of President Daniel G. Lugo. Inauguration Weekend coincided with Fall Weekend, which brought alumni and families to campus for a celebration of the Trinity community.
Jessica Cruz ’26 was announced recently as a recipient of the 2025–26 Newman Civic Fellowship from Campus Compact. The fellowship is a yearlong program that recognizes students for their leadership potential and commitment to creating positive change in communities.
Trinity College’s Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life recently presented the 2025 Moses Berkman 1920 Memorial Journalism Award to Chana Joffe-Walt, a radio journalist and producer for This American Life.
