InterArts is a highly selective, innovative, multidisciplinary, one-year program designed for a select group of outstanding students who share a deep interest in the arts.

In the InterArts Program you will explore a range of issues that raise questions all serious artists need to answer:

  • What is the role of art?
  • What is the nature of the artistic process?
  • What is the relationship between art and life?
  • What is the responsibility of the artist?

InterArts students receive priority admission as freshmen into classes in music, art, theater and dance, film studies, and creative writing. It is recommended that InterArts students take four art classes over their first year across a range of disciplines. InterArts accepts about 15 students from each entering class. Because they share classes, go as a group to arts and cultural events, and work on creative projects together, they often enjoy friendships that last through their time at Trinity and beyond.

Participants speak about the pleasure of sharing an intense academic experience with students in all the creative disciplines: “When I came to Trinity, I thought I’d get to know a lot of sculptors and poets, because those were my chief interests,” one graduate says. “Now, because of InterArts, some of my best friends are dancers and actors, and I’ve learned a lot from them about my own creative work.”
