Andrei Marchidan earned his Bachelors of Engineering degree with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College, in 2013. He received a Masters of Science degree and a Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015 and 2019, respectively. His Ph.D. specialized in controls, autonomy and robotics and his work focused on the development of optimal routing techniques for aircraft and collision avoidance algorithms for drones or other intelligent robots. Professionally, Andrei interned at Tesla in 2017, during his doctorate, where he worked as part of the Autopilot team on decision-making and motion planning algorithms. In 2018, he continued his professional journey with a small startup company, Nvicta, to develop optimal path planning software for geo-steering operations in oil drilling. After finishing his Doctorate, he joined Amazon.com, Inc., to work in the Scout program as a controls and navigation specialist for sidewalk delivery robots.
