Every year, each department nominates one senior with an exemplary academic record to receive the President’s Fellow prize. This year, the Economics department nominated Nico Patch. Nico is from Oswego, Ill. and came to Trinity in the Fall of 2019.

Nico is also a student-athlete. He is part of Trinity’s wrestling team. As a student athlete he has learned to hone his time management skills in order to maintain his dedication to both wrestling and academics. This has been an invaluable experience at Trinity.

As an Economics student, Nico has three favorite classes at Trinity. First, he enjoyed taking Labor Economics with Professor Adam Grossberg. Second, he also enjoyed taking the Public Finance course offered by Professor Troy Helming. Finally, he recently took an Econometrics course with Professor Diane Zannoni and presented his final project results in our annual Poster Presentation Session on December 13. The title of his project was “How much are police officers compensated for the risks they face in their occupation? An analysis of wage compensation for risk across states in the US”.
