Continuing your Journey at Trinity
Welcome back, Bantams!
For many years, Trinity College has emphasized its commitment to being a residential campus that promotes community and personal development. We believe that experiences outside the classroom are crucial to every student’s education. These opportunities enable the formation of lasting friendships, the development of personal responsibility, and the acquisition of leadership skills in a nurturing environment.
When to Apply for Housing
Don’t worry—our goal is to make this process as straightforward as possible!
Every April, returning undergraduate students participate in the housing selection process to secure a room on campus for the upcoming academic year.
No matter which residential building a student calls home, everyone enjoys the same exceptional on-campus living experience. Our residential program is designed to foster community throughout the entire campus, creating connections among students

Your housing selection time slot is determined by your graduating class year. Priority is assigned as follows: rising seniors first, followed by rising juniors, and then rising sophomores. Within each class year, the time slots are randomized. Please be aware that our housing software program does not allow for you to change your assigned time slot.
The size or makeup of your roommate group, or even the absence of a roommate group, does not influence the time slot you receive during the housing selection process. Additionally, changing roommate groups does not affect your assigned time slot.
Townhouse selection will occur in the order below:
- Groups with only rising seniors
- Groups with rising seniors and rising juniors
- Groups with rising seniors, rising juniors, and rising sophomores
- Groups with only rising juniors
- Groups with only rising sophomores
Each group must appoint a group leader. This leader will then extend invitations to other students to join the group, and those students must accept the request to become part of the group.
Important Note: The total number of individuals in a roommate group must match the number of beds available in the townhouse or suite. If your group has one fewer or one more person, you will not be able to select that space.
When the housing selection process begins, the group leader will log into the housing software program to choose a suite and randomly assign roommates to their respective beds. This individual will be the sole person selecting for your group, while everyone else will be added automatically.
No, once your room assignment is confirmed, changes cannot be made through our housing software program.
The individual who has the earliest timeslot will serve as the group leader and will be responsible for choosing the housing assignment.
You can only reserve a townhouse or suite if all the bed spaces within it are occupied.
If a roommate request is declined, your group will forfeit the reservation for the townhouse or suite, and everyone will need to restart the housing selection process.
No, once a roommate request is submitted, the student’s name becomes unavailable for selection unless the request is denied.
The makeup of your roommate group determines the suites you can browse and select from when looking for rooms. This includes factors such as the number of individuals in your group, their gender, and their class year. For instance, a group of four people would not have access to availabilities in the Jarvis suites.
On the day your class chooses housing, you will still have the opportunity to access the system and select a housing assignment.
Housing selection for the upcoming fall semester occurs during the preceding spring semester. Students who plan to study abroad in the fall do not participate in the housing selection process at this time. Once students confirm their return for the spring semester, they will apply for housing selection during the fall prior.
Students who will be studying abroad during the spring semester of the upcoming academic year are eligible to take part in the housing selection process and must choose their housing for the fall semester.
Students who are studying abroad but intend to return for the upcoming fall semester must take part in the housing selection process, following the same procedures as those currently on campus.
For instance, a student who is abroad in Spring 2026 and plans to return to campus for Fall 2026 must engage in the housing selection process, as students are required to live on campus.
You can get information about the neighborhoods and individual residential halls, including the floor plans, here.
The housing agreement clearly states that the housing team holds the right to fill any vacant spaces at any time during the academic year. If you are residing in a double room, please refrain from occupying the entire area, moving the existing furniture, or using the other bed. The housing office will notify you if someone is set to move in, but it’s essential that the space remains clean and ready for new occupants at all times.
For those in a suite or townhouse, please do not use the vacant room for storage or any other purposes. The room will undergo inspection and cleaning once the student moves out, and any belongings left behind will be removed.
If you know someone interested in moving into the space, kindly fill out the mid-year roommate request form here.
