SMART Recovery
Self-Management And Recovery Training (SMART) is a global community of mutual-support groups.
The Office of the Alcohol and Other Drug Education Specialist provides community level education about the potential impact of substances on a student’s wellbeing. This office also conducts confidential meetings for students who may need information, support, community resources or referrals related to alcohol or other drugs and their effects. Students may refer themselves or be referred by other staff or departments within the college. Students who visit this office engage in a process called Brief Motivational Intervention (BMI). BMI sessions assist individuals in exploring their substance use patterns in a nonjudgmental atmosphere, while also providing the person with risk reduction information. This office also provides information about treatment programs as well as peer support resources in the community and online.
