Questions and Answers About the Waitlist at Trinity College

  1. How do I remain active on the waitlist?
If you are interested in remaining on the Trinity College waitlist, please submit the Waitlist Response Form no later than April 7. If we have room to take students off the waitlist, we will start with a review of the candidates who have confirmed their continued interest by the deadline. The Waitlist Response Form is on your Applicant Status page.
  2. When will I learn of Trinity’s decision on my application?
The earliest you can expect to hear from us is late April and the latest is the end of July. Trinity, like most selective colleges, usually makes the great majority of its waitlist decisions in May. If you are chosen to be admitted from the waitlist, you will receive a phone call or email from an admissions counselor.
  3. What is my number or position on the waitlist?
Trinity does not rank students on the waitlist. After the April 7 response date, we will begin reviewing candidates with continuing interest in Trinity.
  4. What are my chances of being admitted from the waitlist?
This all depends on how many students admitted to the college accept our offer. In the past, we have admitted a limited number of students from the waitlist. If we do so again this year, we will try to notify students as quickly as possible. However, it is always difficult to predict if we will take students from the waitlist.
  5. Can I do anything to help my chances for admission?
If Trinity is your first choice, letting us know via email at admissions.office@trincoll.edu is a good idea. You may also submit additional information (new grades, new scores, honors earned, etc.) for the Admissions Committee to review. Anything you send us will be included in your file for review.
  6. Should I submit an enrollment deposit at my second-choice college?
If the national enrollment deadline is approaching and you have not yet heard from Trinity, we suggest that you submit a deposit at another institution. If you are admitted to Trinity and choose to accept our offer, you should then notify the other institution immediately.
  7. If I am admitted, will financial aid be available?
Students who applied for financial assistance and met all deadlines will be presented with information about financial aid eligibility when an offer of admission is made. Trinity College meets 100% of calculated financial need and works individually with families to help them understand their financing options.
