Did you know? 90% of successful cyberattacks start with phishing. Learning how to recognize and avoid phishing emails is one of the most important actions you can take to keep Trinity College safe and secure. To support our awareness and education efforts on phishing, we are launching a phishing simulation program.
These simulated phishing emails will help train people “in the moment” if they fall for a phish by displaying a webpage with helpful tips. This program will also provide us with a better understanding of how to improve our cybersecurity awareness training.
What can I expect?
This phishing attack simulation replicates various cyberattack scenarios and techniques commonly employed by hackers. As you normally would, be on the alert for suspicious emails in your Trinity inbox.
How do I report a phishing attack?
The easiest and fastest way to report an attack is to hit the “Phish Alert Button” in Outlook.
What happens if I click a malicious link as part of this simulation?
Users who click a potentially malicious link as part of this phishing simulation are in luck. Unlike in the real world, they will be directed to a webpage to see how they could have caught the phishy email. An individual’s results from this phishing simulation will not be shared with supervisors or managers.
Why is this important?
In our modern world, where everyone is interconnected, each member of an organization has a vital role in maintaining cybersecurity. The constantly evolving nature of cyber threats requires continuous improvement and adaptation of security measures. By simulating attack scenarios, participants gain valuable insights into the tactics used by malicious actors. This heightened security awareness extends beyond the college environment, equipping individuals with the skills to protect themselves and their personal information online.
