The areas to be excavated are the walkway between McCook and Jones and the walkway between Jones and Elton. Please read on for details about affected buildings and services.

The repair requires that steam heat be turned off to the following buildings, which will affect both heat and hot water in the buildings (cold water will still be available).

  • Smith Hall
  • Jackson Hall
  • Elton Hall
  • Trinity Hall
  • Funston Hall
  • Jones Hall

During the repair, the walkways between Jones and McCook and Elton and Jones will be closed, however, the access ramp to McCook will be open periodically (8:00–9:00 a.m., noon–1:00 p.m., and 4:00–5:00 p.m.). Additionally, because of the interruption to hot water, the Health Center will be closed for direct patient care on Thursday and Friday. Please call the Health Center at 860-297-2018 for medical concerns during this time.

The duration of the repair will be known once the excavation is complete; we will provide updates to the community when more information is available. Temperatures this week are expected to be mild, however, should building temperatures fall to uncomfortable levels, we will provide options to those living or working in those spaces. Staff from the Bantam Network Residential Learning Community will be in contact with students in affected residence halls to provide access to showers in other areas of campus.

We apologize for the inconvenience of these repairs to members of the community, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to mitigate the impact and restore full service as quickly as possible. If you have any issues or concerns, please contact Campus Safety at 860-297-2222.

Sincerely,

Trinity College Emergency Management Team
