In this course you will be able to create any kind of musical work, from the traditional, to the eclectic, or the experimental, and through a wide range of media: from any instrument you want, to vocal and choral, to electronic, computer, and digital, to mixed media, etc. Students will also be free to collaborate with performers, or with other composers, or with students from other disciplines (dance, film, studio arts, etc.), or just work on individual projects as they see fit.

We will aim to conclude the semester with a concert where students’ compositions will be performed and recorded.

While the formal prerequisite is MUSC-101, students with basic music reading and theory skills can also consider this course, since the focus is on individual creativity rather than theory or formalism.

Those students who would wish to explore more complex music theory will be able to do so through individual guided projects and research, while students who want to focus instead on creativity or improvisation can do so with equal intensity and guidance.
