Disruptions to Heat and Hot Water
Two concurrent emergency repair projects are happening this week, which will affect heat and hot water services to various buildings across campus. Read on for details.
The first project will begin on the evening of Tuesday, December 6. The dual-temperature line that delivers heat to the following buildings will be turned off to prepare for the repair, which begins at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Hot water will not be affected.
- The Borges Admissions Center
- English Department Building
- Hansen Hall
- Koeppel Student Center/The Bistro
- The Smith House
The second project begins at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7. Steam at the central energy plant will be shut off to allow for a repair to the steam line at the plant. Campus buildings that receive steam from the central plant will have heat and hot water services affected during the repair. Buildings with a local heating system will not be affected. Buildings not affected:
- 70 Vernon Street
- Campus Safety
- Cornelia Center
- Cultural Houses on Vernon Street
- Doonesbury Hall
- High Rise
- North Campus
- Ogilby Hall
- Trinity Commons
- Vernon Place
We anticipate heat and hot water to be fully restored across campus by the end of the day on Wednesday. Temperatures during the repairs are expected to be in the mid-40s to 50s. We do not expect indoor temperatures to fall below comfort level during the repairs; however, should building temperatures become uncomfortable for those working and living in affected areas, employees should work with their managers, and staff from the Bantam Network Residential Learning Community will work with students in affected residence halls.
We apologize for the inconvenience of these repairs to members of the community, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to mitigate the impact and restore full service as quickly as possible. If you have any issues or concerns, please contact Campus Safety at 860-297-2222.
Sincerely,
Trinity College Emergency Management Team
