The Trinity College community gathered recently to say farewell to President Joanne Berger-Sweeney as she prepares to retire at the end of the 2024–25 academic year after 11 years of leadership.

The celebration was held on the Gates Quad on Friday, May 2, following the Honors Day ceremony. Students, staff, faculty, family, and friends enjoyed a cookout and cupcakes, played games, listened to music, and offered Berger-Sweeney their best wishes.

“Instead of looking to the past for Trinity’s glory days, I wanted to create a bright future so people would be proud to say they’re a part of today’s Trinity College,” Berger-Sweeney said in the winter 2025 edition of The Trinity Reporter. “I worked hard to create a community that felt better about itself, a community that could see all of the incredible potential that I saw. My job was to help Trinity’s light shine a little bit brighter for the world.”
