One of Trinity College’s longest running community programs serving Hartford children, Dream Camp, draws scores of youths to campus for five weeks during the summer for creative and performing arts, health and nutrition, fitness and athletics offerings.

Dream Camp was launched in 1998 to enhance out-of-school educational opportunities for local children, build confidence and academic skills, and improve success in school—and, therefore, build interest in pursuing higher education.

Campers represent all ages stretching from elementary school through high school. For those at the latter end of the spectrum, Dream Camp’s programs focus more on issues such as college awareness, admissions, SAT prep, and navigating through college and financial aid applications.

About 23 percent of Dream Camp staff members are former campers; their success in college and in the leadership role of counselor provides inspiration to young campers.
