The Economics Department is pleased to welcome four new colleagues: Armando Álvarez, Anand Butler, Randy Cragun, and Valeria Jiménez.
Armando Álvarez joins as a Visiting Lecturer in Economics. He is a Ph.D. candidate at The New School and previously taught at Universidad Centroamericana “José Simeón Cañas” in El Salvador. His research focuses on political economy, monetary and macroeconomic theory. At Trinity, Álvarez will teach courses in macroeconomics and applied macroeconomic policy.
Anand Butler joins as an Assistant Professor of Economics. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder and previously worked at the Institute for Replication and CU Boulder. His research focuses on labor economics, with additional interests in economic history, the economics of crime, and industrial organization. At Trinity, Butler will teach courses in labor economics and microeconomics.
Randy Cragun joins as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics. He earned his Ph.D. from Clemson University and previously taught at Niagara University and Birmingham-Southern College. His work examines labor and demographic economics. At Trinity, Cragun will teach courses in microeconomic theory, labor, and the economics of education.
Valeria Jiménez joins as an Assistant Professor of Economics. She earned her Ph.D. from Université Sorbonne Paris Nord and previously taught at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Her research focuses on macroeconomics. At Trinity, Jiménez will teach courses in macroeconomics and macroeconomic policy.
