Trinity's Implementation of the Governor's March 20, 2020 Executive Order

Dear Trinity faculty and staff,

First, I extend heartfelt appreciation to everyone for working diligently to care for our students and their families and for each other as we adjust our regular operations to support remote learning and continuation of Trinity’s business in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. I write to inform you of the steps Trinity is taking to implement the March 20 Executive Order from Governor Ned Lamont.

Governor Lamont’s Executive Order requires non-essential businesses to move to 100% remote working beginning Monday, March 23, at 8:00 p.m. Although we interpret the order to allow colleges and universities to continue to operate physically, the spirit of the order compels Trinity to limit employees on campus to those whose functions are critical to supporting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students and our campus buildings and grounds. All other work, including essential functions that can be performed remotely, such as staffing the Help Desk or Library, recruiting and retaining students, and fundraising, should be completed remotely.

Trinity’s division heads have been communicating with their staff and faculty members about who is needed on campus to support our critical needs and who should work remotely. To avoid confusion, unless you receive specific instruction or approval from your division head, you are required to perform your duties remotely. If you have any questions about this policy, you are welcomed to contact me by return email.
