Winter Storm Update: College Closed on January 26
A winter storm continues to heavily impact our region, with up to 24 inches of snowfall predicted by Monday morning, making travel extremely difficult. For the safety of our community, the College will be closed on Monday, January 26. Read on for details.
Classes
For safety considerations, no classes will be held Monday in person. Whether a class runs on Zoom or through some other arrangement is up to the individual faculty member who teaches the course. Students, please monitor your email for faculty instructions on individual class arrangements.
Staff
Essential services pertaining to residence halls, dining halls, Campus Safety, and any other identified staff/services supporting student well-being and safety will remain open, and employees responsible for these functions are expected to report to work.
Staff working in non-essential services should not report to campus. Managers should communicate with their staff to clarify remote work expectations for the day.
Campus Operations
Facilities crews are working diligently to clear and de-ice pathways and roadways. Students are advised to stay indoors as much as possible and exercise caution when outside as pathways and stairs may be slippery. Please note the following adjustments to services and building access:
- Dining Services: This evening, Mather Dining Hall will be open for normal operations, and the Cave and the Bistro will be closed. On Monday, Mather Dining Hall and the Cave are open for normal operations, and the Bistro will reopen for dinner.
- Student Health Services: The Health Center and the Counseling and Wellness Center will be open for virtual appointments only. Check your email for specific details.
- Athletics: Ferris Athletics Center and the Scully Center will be card-access only. Fitness and recreation activities will resume on Monday at 5:00 p.m. Adjustments to varsity practices will be communicated by coaches.

Student staff will be available at the LIT desk until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, but for limited hours throughout the day. Professional staff will be available online from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. You can contact the LIT desk for technical support and schedule one-on-one appointments with our librarians for research help or any other needs at https://libcal.trincoll.edu/appointments.

- Mailroom: The mailroom will be closed on Monday.
- All other events and activities: The discretion to hold or cancel scheduled events and activities will be made by the event organizer. Please contact individual event organizers with questions.
Campus Parking
The City of Hartford has an active parking ban for city streets. Thanks to all who worked quickly to move vehicles to interior lots. Please watch your email for further messaging about moving vehicles once the city’s parking ban is lifted and Facilities Services works to clear the interior lots. Students will be asked to relocate their vehicles from the Hansen, Jarvis, Seabury, and Trinity Commons parking lots in preparation for employee parking on Tuesday morning. Facilities will have the Ferris Athletic Center and Broad Street (north and south) lots available for student parking.
As a reminder, all community members should be sure to keep windows closed. Pipes are susceptible to freezing/bursting during the winter season and can cause significant damage.
Thank you for your attention and your ongoing support in helping keep our community safe.
Sincerely,
Dan
